    Corporate wine dinners in London.

A hosted wine dinner with me is an intimate, conversational evening around a table, for close client relationships, journalists and deeper discussion. I choose the wines bottle by bottle, introduce them lightly and then let them do their job, so the conversation stays yours. Dinners start from 10 guests, at a private dining room I know or a venue of your choice.

Elizabeth Hawthornthwaite, sommelier and founder of Elizabeth & Wine

    How an evening runs.

Take the private dinner I hosted for Hogan Lovells and Vodafone at Mount Street Restaurant, marking a 10-year working partnership. The evening began in the private bar before moving to our table in the Italian Room: soft lighting, warm tones, museum-quality artwork. No speeches. Just a table.

We opened with an English Blanc de Blancs, not with a speech but with a question: have you tried English sparkling wine before? Then Nova Domus from Cantina Terlano in Alto Adige, a Nerello Mascalese from Mount Etna, and a Gattinara, 100% Nebbiolo. Each wine was chosen to give people something to connect over, not to impress or to test anyone’s knowledge.

For Cadwalader it was a curated wine dinner for 20 at Farm Shop on Audley Street: a tight selection of standout bottles, from English sparkling to Burgundy and a premium non-alcoholic, introduced briefly and then left to open up the table.

    Wines and price.

I choose the wines bottle by bottle for your guests and the occasion, provide them, and pour and introduce each one through the evening. The aim, as at Mount Street, is to open conversation rather than dominate it.

    Questions

How much does a corporate wine dinner cost?

Each dinner is quoted for your numbers, wines and venue. As a guide, private, luxury and corporate wine tastings start from £99 per guest; a 50% deposit secures the date, with the balance due one month before.

    How many guests can come?

Wine dinners start from 10 guests. The rooms she works with take from 10 to 45 people; for a larger group, a standing tasting or a Wine Safari may suit better.

Who chooses and provides the wines?

Elizabeth does. She chooses the wines bottle by bottle for the group and the occasion, provides them and hosts the evening herself.

Can you work at a restaurant we have already chosen?

Yes. She works regularly with a small number of London venues and is happy to host at a venue of your choice.
