Chilean wine
Chile appears in 7 articles of hers, from 2022 to 2026.
In her words
Cabernet Franc from Chile: bold, expressive and full of character.
For a winter red that never fails to deliver, look for a classic Cabernet Sauvignon, in this case, one from Chile offering perfectly ripe cassis flavours, herbaceous notes and oodles of flavour.
Chile: With a 2,700-mile stretch from north to south, Chile provides diverse terroirs with cooler and warmer climates that contribute perfectly to the production of various grape varieties including Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir or Shiraz.
However, because of climate change, winemakers are moving away from the increasingly arid central valley and finding other climates and areas up and down the length of Chile in which to plant vines.
The further south you go, the more likely you are to encounter terroir-driven, artisan winemakers in Chile, in areas such as Itata and BioBio, nudging up against the region of Patagonia.
I would urge you to hunt out wines from these re-emerging regions of Chile (Itata, BioBio) which once produced in volume for other wineries but are now doing their own thing, creating delicate, crunchy wines of real character.
