It’s April and Spring is finally here!
I’ve got lots of lovely wines to tell you all about!
It’s Spring lamb time (I know this because my husband has filled our freezer with meat!) and the season is underway for fresh salads and fruit rather than the earthy vegetables and rich stews of winter and lots and lots of fresh vegetables, which my Zoe app never fails to remind me to fill up on! (early English asparagus = the dream!).
So wine-wise that might mean you’re looking at slightly lighter styles, perhaps Italian whites replacing the Chardonnay or Viognier in your fridge, or Pinot and Gamay coming instead for the reds of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, or it could even be time to start thinking about drinking rosé!
Spring also means several Bank Holidays, and in the UK we are super lucky this year to have some extra days to celebrate with the King’s Coronation.
So what wines should you be drinking in the next couple of months?

Louvel Fontaine Champagne Brut - £18 from ASDA
This is one of the most affordable bottles of Champagne I’ve ever come across. This wine has a beautiful yellow-gold colour and delicate fruit and brioche notes on the nose and doesn’t disappoint on the palate, it is lively with racy acidity and has a clean fresh finish.

Graham Beck Rosé Brut - On offer for £10 (from £16.99) at Waitrose
A South African rosé fizz. Easy drinking, red berries, citrus and lime. Elegant new sparkling wine to kick off the party!

Moncaro Verdiccihio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico 2022, Italy - £6.99 from Waitrose
Incredibly refreshing, citrus, crushed herbs and almonds. A brilliant white for a day with friends or family and the sunshine on your back.

Les Nivieres Saumur Cabernet Franc, France - £9.99 from Waitrose
Irresistible red wine from the Loire Valley which is famous for Sancerre. The cooler climate enables this delicate red wine, rich with blackcurrants and spice. Drink this slightly chilled (15min in the fridge) and eat with a spicy sausage from the BBQ.

People... let me tell you about the ultimate summer wine premixed cocktail: ‘Chandon Garden Spritz’.
It's light, refreshing, and oh-so-delicious!
This spritz is made with Chandon's sparkling wine, which is already a crowd-pleaser in its own right. But the clever people at Chandon have added in some botanicals like orange and rosemary to create a party in a glass. One sip of this and you'll be transported to a garden oasis!
It's perfect for a day by the pool, a picnic in the park, or any summer gathering. So, grab a bottle of Chandon Garden Spritz and get ready to sip your way to summer bliss. Cheers to good wine, good company, and good times!
