    2024 is taking shape...

The business calendar for 2024 is taking shape, and that means opportunities to get that all-important face time with your key clients.  I hope you don’t mind me jotting down a few ideas here for your conversations.

International Women’s Day (Friday 8th March) dominates the business agenda for March, if you’d like to arrange wine tasting with wines all made by top female winemakers, I still have one or two slots left but you need to be quick!

In June it’s Pride Month, why not consider a wine tasting with clients or colleagues to mark the occasion? I organise tastings themed around wines of the rainbow 🌈 flag, where we discuss how to  promote self-affirmation, dignity, equality and the increased visibility of LGBT+ communities, especially in the workplace environment. Sample wines including Digby Fine English, the sparkling wine from West Sussex made by married couple Jason Humphries and Trevor Clough, it’s outperforming Champagne in blind tastings!

June also sees some more sector-specific events, for the lawyers, London International Disputes Week (3rd June) is a big one, as is London Tech Week (10th-14th June). I’ve previously designed tastings for numerous top law firms, as well as speaking on themes such as innovation for tech firms, so if that sounds like you, drop me a line!

Then as we move into the summer season proper it’s a fabulous time to visit English vineyards such as Gusbourne, less than an hour by train from London and such a fantastic experience for clients.

Looking ahead to the autumn we get into awards season but also the very important Black History Month (October 2024), I do a specific wine tasting for Black History Month focused around showcasing winemakers of colour such as South Africa’s Rüdger van Wyk, who was inspired by a trip to Burgundy in 2015, saying: ‘Granted the opportunity, every young winemaker should do a harvest in France. It changed my mind about everything.’ Van Wyk went on to win the Diners Club Young Winemaker of the Year award! Working at wine shows, he had sometimes been mistaken for someone who was there to empty the spittoons, but as his star has risen, people began to take notice.
