Team events are a completely different brief to client events. They’re not about networking. They’re about making people feel comfortable.
I hosted a team tasting for Watson Farley & Williams recently, and what stood out was how quickly the room relaxed. Everyone was seated. There was no formal structure and no pressure to “circulate” or speak to anyone new. And that’s exactly the point.
When people feel at ease, they ask more questions. The conversation opens up, and it becomes much more interactive without trying too hard.
We ended up covering everything from what to order in a restaurant to how to avoid overpaying on a wine list. There was lots of myth-busting and lots of discussion.
It’s a different kind of energy to a client event. It’s less about creating new relationships and more about giving people space to enjoy themselves and switch off.
Thank you to the team for being such a great room to host.
