    Harvest at Louis Pommery, Kent

Something is enchanting about harvest season, even when it’s quintessentially English, cue the pouring rain! At the stunning Piggott’s Estate in Kent, I had the privilege of witnessing grape-picking in action at Louis Pommery and trust me, the magic of the vineyard is worth every muddy step.

Another sunny day in England, and I'm in the vineyard. This is Louie Palmer's estate, Pigleston. Clearly about to start to harvest. This sponge looks good. Let's try one. Time it bitter, but it's actually quite sweet. That's a really good sign. It's nice when they get sweet. That's what we like. Meet Julien Lennard, the big boss taking me on a private tour looking at the clonal varieties of all the vineyards and this Pinot Noir here. And then there's me attempting to harvest some of the grapes. One bunch only.

As soon as I stepped into the lush rows of vines, I couldn’t resist sneaking a grape straight from the bunch (because how could you not?).

Guided by Julien Lonneux himself, I got a private tour filled with exciting insights about the vineyard’s future and the varieties thriving here, like the sophisticated Pinot Noir.

And yes, I tried my hand at harvesting, though let’s just say I won’t be quitting my day job anytime soon!
