Let's talk about rosé as an autumn wine choice!
Most people think rosé is solely a summer wine, but it’s not! I’m here to tell you that rosé can be a fabulous option as the seasons turn cooler. Forget sticking to the familiar pale pink Provençal style; last month I ventured into wilder territory with a ‘Rosé Szn’, think rosé with a splash of jalapeño! Plus find out why an old stager, Mateus Rosé, with its distinctive bottle shape, has been reinvented as the perfect partner for Indian food! Yup, you heard right.
And speaking of Mateus, don't scoff, this isn't your auntie's retro dinner party wine any more! Try it with a spicy curry. The subtle sweetness of this rosé balances out the heat and complexity of the dish, taming the spices without overshadowing them. It's a culinary match that will make you rethink all those preconceived notions about what wines 'should' pair with.

Why not try pairing curry with wine at an amazing client or team dinner at top Indian restaurant Brigadiers Bloomberg Arcade but you provide the guests and I do the rest with a stunning original food and wine pairing.

Visiting English Vineyards
My recent visit to Gusbourne was nothing short of extraordinary. Set in the rolling hills of Kent, the 'Garden of England,' Gusbourne showcases the luxury and craft of English sparkling wine. Walking through their vineyards, it's easy to understand why 2023 has been tipped as an exceptional year for English grapes. The weather has been nearly perfect, adequate rain and plenty of sunshine have led to some of the healthiest grape clusters.
Contrast that with the disappointing grape harvest in Europe, particularly in Italy's Prosecco region. My recent trip there was heart-wrenching. The usually vibrant vineyards were marred by the impact of unpredictable weather, excessive rain, hail, and outbreaks of mildew have left many winemakers devastated. I met producers who had decided not to harvest at all this year, the conditions had so negatively affected the quality of their grapes.
So, avoid the airports - if you want to visit a fabulous winery such as Gusbourne in Kent with me, book a day out to an English vineyard with Elizabeth & Wine.
