🌷 Your Ultimate Easter Wine Guide Is Here! 🍷

Easter's just around the corner, and it's time to uncork and unwind! I love sharing my Easter wine picks with you - guaranteed to make your long weekend extra special without breaking the bank. I will be opening these wines with my friends and family this weekend, so watch out for stories on my Instagram (@elizabethwinegirl), and thanks for following me and for reading!

Four wine bottles, yellow flowers and Cadbury Freddo and Mini Eggs Easter boxes

Easter wine selections from elizabeth & wine

I've selected four amazing wines from 3 high street shops including Waitrose (psst…they’re offering a fabulous 25% OFF when you buy six bottles or more of wine and champagne over £6!).

Majestic has also just announced yesterday they are also offering 25% OFF all fine wine this Easter.

Albert Road Pinot Noir wine bottle against a white background

Albert Road Pinot Noir, South Africa

    £9.99 or £7.49 for 6 at Waitrose

Crafted by the brilliant duo of Thys Louw and Duncan Savage, this wine is a melody of black and red cherries with a touch of bramble, perfect with your Easter roast lamb.

Bottle of Cune Rioja white wine on a white background

Cune Barrel Fermented Rioja Blanco, Spain

    £10.99 at Waitrose

Seeking a Chardonnay alternative? This white Rioja, with its oaky influences and zesty finish, pairs divinely with roast chicken.

Bottle of Dalamaras Naoussa 2021 Xinomavro red wine on white background

    Naoussa Dalamara 2021, Greece

    £25.00 at The Wine Society

After falling head over heels for Greek wines, this gem has become a go-to for me. Its Xinomavro grape offers a Barolo-esque experience without the hefty price tag. Spicy red fruits, sour cherry, medium body and fine tannins! This has true wow factor.

    ELIZABETH'S TOP EASTER WINE PICKS

    Lamb and Wine:
While red wine and lamb are a classic duo, why not mix things up with a Rosé, especially if the spring sun peeks out this weekend? The Les Vignobles Foncalieu ‘Vallée des Pins’ Rosé 2022 from Côteaux d’Aix en Provence (Majestic, £11.99 or £9.99 mix six) boasts elegant red berry fruits and crisp acidity, making it a hit for any occasion, not just Easter.

For chocolate lovers, can you match chocolate with wine?!

To be honest, chocolate and wine don’t really make for natural bedfellows, most chocolate is just too sweet to pair well with wine. But if you want to give it a go, here are my recommendations.

    Milk Chocolate Lovers:

The creamy delight of milk chocolate eggs pairs best with a Pinot Noir. The key? It's all about complementing the chocolate's lower cocoa percentage with the wine's delicate flavour profile. Try Albert Road Pinot Noir, South Africa.

Dark Chocolate Devotees: Dark chocolate needs a wine that echoes its depth. Shiraz and Malbec are contenders, but for an ultimate pairing, I’d recommend:

Waitrose Fine Tawny Port bottle on a white background

    Waitrose Blueprint Ruby Port

    £9.49

It's ripe, sweet bramble fruit, perfect for dark chocolate Easter eggs or Black Forest gâteau.

    White Chocolate Winners.

Chardonnay is your go-to for pairing with white chocolate, this combination actually works surprisingly well! A nice oaked Chardonnay from California will give body and more creamy texture to white chocolate, while an unoaked Chardonnay will elicit smooth pear and nutty notes. Try Cune Barrel Fermented Rioja Blanco 2021.

Here's to a holiday with delicious wines.

    Happy Easter!
