Most networking events don’t fail because people don’t attend.
They fail because nothing in the room makes it easy for people to connect.
That was the focus behind this client networking event hosted with Rostrum at Stem + Stem for 40 guests.
The evening brought together a mix of existing clients, new relationships, and people who had only briefly met before. Rather than a formal presentation or structured agenda, the event was designed to encourage natural conversation through thoughtful styling, food, wine, and movement around the room.
The Brief:
Create a networking event that felt relaxed, modern, and genuinely engaging, not transactional or overly corporate.
What Worked:
One of the biggest reasons the evening worked so well was because there was no sales pitch.
Rostrum weren’t standing at the front of the room delivering a 15-minute presentation about the agency. There was no forced introduction or corporate “spiel”. Instead, the team were simply present in the room, speaking to people naturally and allowing relationships to build organically.
Guests already knew what Rostrum did.
A beautifully designed banner quietly reinforced the brand throughout the evening, but the focus stayed on conversation, hospitality, and making people feel comfortable.
The standing format also completely changed the energy of the room. Guests could move naturally between conversations without getting stuck in one place, which kept the atmosphere fluid and relaxed throughout the evening.
Food and wine were carefully interspersed across the event rather than treated as an afterthought. The wines followed a floral theme, creating an easy conversation point and a shared thread running through the evening.
And then there was the final detail people kept talking about afterwards: tulips.
Every guest left with a bunch to take home.
Simple, but incredibly effective.
It extended the memory of the evening beyond the event itself and made the whole experience feel thoughtful, warm, and personal.
The Result:
The atmosphere shifted quickly from polite networking to genuine engagement.
Guests stayed longer, conversations flowed naturally, and several attendees commented on how valuable it was hearing existing clients speak positively about Rostrum organically within the room.
The event successfully created:
Stronger client relationships
Easier introductions between guests
Increased confidence and trust in the Rostrum brand
A memorable experience people continued talking about afterwards
Why It Worked:
The best networking events don’t force conversations.
They create the right environment for them to happen naturally.
At Elizabeth & Wine, wine is never just about what’s in the glass. It’s used as a tool to help people relax, engage, and connect more easily, particularly in corporate environments where networking can otherwise feel formal or difficult.
If you’re planning a client networking event in London and want to create something people genuinely remember, I’d love to help.
